Thank you for sharing this list! I also think listening is much easier than reading Japanese! I love reading fiction books, so I wonder if there are any YouTube channels like this for fiction?
Thanks so much for this I find myself stuck at the N5 level. With my ADHD these days I am always distracted with various projects thus no time to truly sit down and formally study.
Davidさん、thank you for the comment, it really means a lot!! I couldn’t agree more. In today’s age, learning can be done in so many different ways, which is a blessing, but at times it can also make us a little lazy too😩,,like me, reaching for an audiobook instead of reading.
ラシュミさん、シェアしてくれてありがとう。とてもいいリストだね。These are so precious. I never really thought to look into native Japanese videos on YouTube except maybe a suggested travel video or something. I will definitely use these when I am above intermediate level.
But Raydaさん, I’m sure you’ll understand them no sooner, as you’re already working so hard with different study methods. Wishing you speedy learning ❤️🥰
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely article and the YouTube links. I really believe everyone has their own learning style. Some people learn best by listening, others by reading and that’s completely okay. We don’t need to force ourselves to study in a way that doesn’t suit us. Starting with what feels comfortable is often the best first step.
For me, I’m learning Korean and Spanish, and I usually begin with graded readers. These days, AI tools make things even easier like browser extensions that instantly show meanings. I use those tools and keep things simple. That said, I honestly enjoy it most when there’s audio. Reading while listening, or listening while reading, works really well for me. I’ve also been using audiobooks a lot lately. They’re such a great way to learn through listening.
It’s also encouraging to hear how tools like graded readers, AI extensions, and audiobooks are supporting your learning. Thank you for sharing your experience, it made me feel less alone and more confident about learning in my own way.

@Renee thanks so much for your comment 🙏🏻it feels reassuring to know I'm not alone...

Raydaさん、こちらこそ、読んでくれてありがとう🙏🏼そう言ってもらえてとても嬉しいです!!
でも、正直に言うと、私もまだ分からないことはたくさんあります。何回聞いても、なかなか理解できない時も多いです。それでも、本を読むのは難しいので、今の私には「聞くほう」が少し気が楽なんです。

Aww

Norikoさん、コメント本当にありがとうございます🙏🏼 It’s reassuring to know that we all study differently, and that there isn’t just one “right” way to learn.
Norikoさんはいつも色んな本を読みながらシェアしてること大変勉強になっていますそしてすごく憧れ〜いつになったら私もと思う時もあります、、、
